New Maruti Suzuki XL7 Launched in India with Premium Features and Versatile 7-Seater Configuration

New Maruti Suzuki XL7- Maruti Suzuki India Limited has officially launched the much-anticipated XL7 in the Indian market, expanding its premium MPV lineup beyond the successful XL6. The new XL7 combines the practicality of a seven-seater configuration with upmarket features and a robust powertrain, targeting family buyers seeking a versatile vehicle with premium appointments. The launch event at Pragati Maidan showcased the vehicle’s enhanced capabilities and Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to diversifying its product portfolio in the competitive MPV segment.

Launch Overview and Highlights

The XL7 marks Maruti Suzuki’s strategic entry into the premium 7-seater MPV segment, complementing the 6-seater XL6 already in its lineup. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, emphasized that the XL7 addresses the growing demand for feature-rich family vehicles with additional seating capacity.

“The XL7 represents our response to the evolving needs of Indian families who desire a premium vehicle experience without compromising on space and versatility,” said Takeuchi during the launch. “With its enhanced dimensions, refined features, and the trusted reliability of Maruti Suzuki, the XL7 is positioned to become the preferred choice for customers seeking a premium 7-seater experience.”

The XL7 has been developed based on the successful Ertiga platform but features significant enhancements in terms of dimensions, features, and styling to position it as a more premium offering. The vehicle will be manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s state-of-the-art facility in Manesar, Haryana.

Design and Exterior Features

The XL7 features a bold and distinctive design that sets it apart from its siblings in the Maruti Suzuki lineup. The front fascia is dominated by a large chrome-accented grille flanked by sharp LED projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights. The bumper features a rugged skid plate design, emphasizing the vehicle’s crossover appeal.

In profile, the XL7 showcases a more muscular stance compared to the XL6, with pronounced wheel arches housing 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The increased ground clearance of 200mm (up from 180mm on the XL6) enhances its SUV-like presence and improves capability on rough roads.

The rear design features split LED tail lamps connected by a chrome strip, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a redesigned bumper with silver accents. Roof rails come as standard across all variants, adding to both functionality and visual appeal.

The XL7 measures 4,450mm in length, 1,775mm in width, and 1,710mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,470mm, making it slightly larger than the XL6 in all dimensions to accommodate the additional seating capacity and enhance interior space.

Interior and Features

Inside, the XL7 offers a premium cabin experience with thoughtful design and high-quality materials. The dashboard features a sophisticated layout with a floating 9-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system as the centerpiece. The cabin is finished in an all-black theme with silver accents, lending it a sporty yet premium feel.

The three-row seating configuration includes captain seats in the second row on higher variants, while the entry-level variants offer bench seating. The third row can comfortably accommodate two adults and features reclining functionality for enhanced comfort during long journeys. With all seats in place, the XL7 offers 153 liters of boot space, which can be expanded to 550 liters with the third row folded and up to 803 liters with both second and third rows folded.
